Closet Whisperer Pick of the Day: French Connection Kimono Coat

This French Connection coat is probably the only thing I'm keeping an eye on for Black Friday/ Cyber Monday.  I've seen it worn 3 different ways by 3 of my favorite style trendsetters. They say good things come in 3's & this one right here is gooooood. Whether its layered over a dress or dressed down with jeans,  its versatile and is definitely on my wishlist!

The Perfect Lippie for Fall.... & its Super Cheap too!

I'm usually a nude lip kind of girl, but I stepped out of my comfort zone & tried a few new lipsticks for New York Fashion Week. Since then I've become addicted to a bolder pout! My latest go to has been

Friday Chic!

This week's Friday Chic feature is wardrobe stylist Urcia of " Styled by Urcia". I J'ADORE her style & she bodied this look that she wore to the GQ x Glamour Magazine fashion show last week. I loved the fur vest that she paired with an oxblood leather skirt & lip to match. Dainty accessories & nude pointed toe pumps perfected her look. Make sure you check out her blog for specific deets on this look, as well as, other daily outfits & style tips.

Monday Motivation

Source

"I didn't always know what I wanted to do, but I knew the woman I wanted to become"

I love this quote by Diane Von Furstenberg. Sometimes my goals & dreams can be overwhelming. However, the ultimate vision that I have for myself is so clear to me. I try to hold onto that when I'm feeling a little unsure.

Y'all ever feel that way?

New in the Closet.....

Closet Whisperer Instagram

I spotted these beauties on blogger boo Gray & had to have them! They were out of stock online for the longest but I was finally able to order them. My plan was to wear them for fashion week. Sad thing was they were too big when I got them & I had to send them back. They sold out AGAIN but I kept checking & saw the size I needed available last week. I called to snatch them up right away & was told that there was only 1 pair left in the exact size I needed. FATE! I was able to get them at a nice percentage off too. They arrived on my doorstep over the weekend & fit perfectly! I can't wait to wear them.

Spread Love Its The Brooklyn Way: NYFW Essence Street Style Block Party

My 1st day in New York kicked off with a bang. I stayed in the upper eastside of Manhattan with my cousin which was awesome. The area was so nice & it was close to the Lincoln Center, Central Park & not far from the other shows I was going to. As soon as I touched down, I got ready so I could meet up with My Fashion Fairy Friend, Deone at Essence Magazine's Street Style Block Party in Brooklyn. Now I used to work in New York and my only gripe with Brooklyn is that it always took me FOREVER to get there. This time was no different. A 30 minute train ride turned into an hour getting to Dumbo, Brooklyn.  Me & trains just don't click. Hopping off one & jumping to another. I don't have the patience for all that especially when I'm so used to just getting in my car & driving.

I literally caught the last 10 minutes of this block party, but it was still packed when I got there! The people & energy there were amazing. I managed to get a few shots from a great event. There was a designer spotlight for 3 designers:

Accessories talent Melody Ehsani:

Project Runway alum Kimberly Goldson:

Menswear designer Ron Bass

Chevorlet cars were also on display featuring custom art. Dope!

We left there & headed to a private party at my new fave spot, The James hotel.  I love a good rooftop. The atmosphere, the view, the music..... it just had a good vibe. If you're in New York you have to stop by. Thanks to Chef for the invite!

Fun times! Click here in case you missed the deets on what I wore.

TRENDING: Temporary Tattoos

During fashion week, I went to the Lincoln Center & got this pretty temp tattoo at the Pandora jewelry station. I didn't think much of it until I got back to Atlanta and people were asking me: "Where did you get that?" What is that?" or telling me how cute it was. So, I thought I'd share.

What I Wore: NYFW Day 1

If you follow me on social media, you'll know that I went to New York Fashion Week this year! It's been almost 2 years since I been in New York & I was so excited to go. I always come alive there! With that being said I came up with the bright idea to go maybe a week & a half ago! So, planning the wardrobe was very last minute. I know, I'm crazy.

Closet Whisperer x NYFW: Nolcha's Fashion Week

On Tuesday I attended Nolcha's Spring/ Summer '15 collection of emerging designers. I'm always on the lookout for what's new & next in fashion so I couldn't wait for this show. It was a packed house with notable celebs such as Rocsi Diaz, Russell Westbrook & my newest boo Johnny Wujek. Who knew Katie Perry's costume designer was such a cutie patootie?!

CLOSET WHISPERER PICKS:

#1 CHARLES & RON

The 1st designers to present were Charles & Ron which i loved! I could see myself wearing a lot of the pieces. It was very feminine & I loved the use of soft colors & print. Definitely a designer duo to watch.

#2  Sofia Arana

I also enjoyed Sophia Arana's very girly collection.  She had me with the maxi!

 #3 Katty Xiomara

I also thought Katty Xiomara shined with her collection mixed with structured & flowy pieces. I'd wear the last look in a heartbeat. Easy breezy & good pair of pumps is very much my style.

Designers: Monstruosite', Schuyler 4, Oiselle
Overall, The Nolcha Fashion Week presentation was well balanced showcasing a total of 13 diverse designers with their own point of view. I really enjoyed it!

Monday Motivation: Enjoy Figuring Out Who You are

I've always liked Zoe Saldana's confidence & how blunt she is. So, when I saw this interview that she did with Amanda de Cabanet last year, I wanted to share it with you guys. My favorite part was around the 3:00 mark where she says:
"I know who I am. I love who I am. I like what I do, and I like how I do it. I like my mistakes and I like the pace at which I learn from my mistakes. I don't want to be anybody else but me, and by knowing this, I want to continue figuring out who the f*ck I am."
I'm real big on positive thinking and affirmations & I thought this would be a good one to repeat especially on those days where I feel a little unsure of who I am & where I'm headed in life. Kudos to Zoe!

Nice, France

Overlooking The Mediterranean Sea
Once upon a time The Closet Whisperer was actually a flight attendant for a major airline. At the time I didn't have a blog where I was the main focus to share my experiences, but now I do. So, BOOM! Let's get into it. I traveled to some pretty dope places around the world & one of the most beautiful places I went to was Nice, France. Seriously guys, this place is a walking post card. Sorry for the photo quality in advance, I took them all on my iPhone. Any who......

Simplicity

"Fashion has to reflect who you are, what you feel at the moment, and where you're going. It doesn't have to be bright, doesn't have to be loud. Just has to be you."- Pharrell Williams

I Define Life Interview Series Feat. Gray Castillo

Everyone meet Gray Castillo. Based in Zurich, Switzerland She is H&M's Showroom manager, a Fab Stylist & Blogger. and the perfect person to kick off my "I Define Life" interview series- spotlighting fashion trendsetters, forward thinkers, & creatives. Basically people who are dope! Let's get to know her shall we?

First off I am obsessed with your style & your ability to mix print & textures. How would you describe your style & What inspires your looks?
"I'd describe my style as a mix of Ghetto chic and versatile, sometimes minimalist with clean pieces, but very experimental when it comes to colors and patterns. I mix it in a creative way with heels and chunky accessories.
My looks are inspired from the people I love, people I work with, colors, books, old pictures from my mom and magazines."
